Vladyslav Babenko

Quality Engineering Manager · EPAM Systems

I lead quality engineering for enterprise platforms — I build the AI systems that make that quality faster to achieve.

Who I am

Three modes, run in parallel

Delivery leader

The single accountable quality authority for a multi-stream enterprise platform — test strategy, release governance, quality gates and client-facing risk ownership across web, iOS, Android and backend.

People manager

Resource Manager for a unit of 10+ engineers — hiring, onboarding, PDPs, performance check-ins, promotion readiness, succession, recognition and retention. I coach engineers through level-ups and certification paths.

Practice builder

Conference speaker, assessment committee head, technical interviewer, OKR captain and AI Champion advisor — building the QE practice well beyond my own account.

In one paragraph

I own QA delivery end to end across 3 parallel streams, from strategy through release sign-off. I authored the platform's unified test strategy and the release quality gates that Product and Delivery leadership now use as their standard readiness criteria, and I built the metrics framework behind them — so go/no-go calls rest on defect leakage, coverage consistency and regression duration rather than on opinion. Alongside that I design and ship the AI systems that make the work faster: multi-agent pipelines that turn a Jira key into approved, traceable test artefacts. That combination — running the delivery and building the tooling that changes its economics — is what I bring to an engineering management role.

QA Artefact Agent

Multi-agent test generation pipeline

6 agents and 23 skills: a ticket key triggers retrieval across the tracker, knowledge base, product codebase and test-management system, produces a prioritised checklist, converts it to ready-to-run test cases and writes them back with full traceability. Approval gates guard every write; a companion agent scores coverage between suites.

SME Feature Agent

And its production workflow

Turns a feature name into a business-readable summary, BDD scenarios and technical metadata, synthesised across 4 sources and published as pull requests, test campaigns and knowledge-base pages. Productionised as a 59-state, 16-assistant workflow — deliberately re-engineered down from a 49-state design to a single sequential chain, with a static validator gating every deploy.

Sprint QA Coverage Auditor

Audits every sprint against QA effort, automation and accessibility signals, identifies tickets missing required QA work and provisions the corresponding tasks automatically — read-only until an explicit 2-stage confirmation, closing planning gaps before the sprint starts rather than mid-flight.

Delivery Flow Monitor

Serverless service tracking ticket state transitions across the board, routing targeted notifications to the responsible engineer and team channel. Reports business-hours-only cycle time per status and surfaces linked pull requests — an objective view of where work stalls.

Designed and built to run in production on the coaching-platform programme. Together they cut manual QA effort by ~40%, reducing test design from days to hours and removing a recurring dependency on senior engineers for domain answers. Alongside them I introduced AI-powered localisation testing, replacing sampled manual review with systematic automated validation.

Path

  • Apr 2021 — Present
Quality Engineering Manager I · Key Quality Engineer, Team Lead
Enterprise Digital Coaching Platform client under NDA
The platform. On-demand, person-to-person professional coaching delivered at scale across web, iOS, Android and backend services, with global enterprises — Microsoft, AstraZeneca, Coca-Cola, General Electric, Kraft Heinz and Spotify among them — running workforce coaching programmes on it.
My part. Single accountable quality authority across 3 parallel streams: authored the unified test strategy and the release quality gates Product and Delivery leadership use as standard readiness criteria, and built the metrics framework behind them. Plan, estimate and supervise every release cycle, act as the direct QA contact for client leadership, and line-manage a unit of 10+ engineers as Resource Manager. QA owner for the CTO's greenfield AI-first initiative targeting an October 2026 client pilot.
  • Feb 2020 — Jan 2021
    Key Quality Engineer, Team Lead
Group Insurance Benefits Platform client under NDA
The platform. Administration system for a North American non-profit health and dental benefits carrier — microservices migration, rules-engine modernisation and a redesigned group-enrolment workflow.
My part. Led QA for a delivery sub-stream, owning testing risk identification, reporting and mitigation inside the Agile process. Supervised daily execution for 4 manual engineers, set sprint estimates and test scope, and held full traceability across requirements, test cases, defects and automation results while validating microservice features and business rules on Windows, macOS, iOS and Android.
  • Oct 2019 — Jan 2020
    Key Quality Engineer, Team Lead
Biomedical Calibration Platform client under NDA
The platform. Common platform plus radiology, pressure and biomedical calibration products for a global manufacturer of precision test and measurement instruments — the software that keeps hospital and laboratory equipment certified and traceable to standard.
My part. Led testing across 2 sub-streams and reported quality risk directly to the customer. Directed daily execution for 3 testers, provided sprint-level estimates, controlled requirement-to-defect traceability, and grew product knowledge across the team while hands-on testing the Windows desktop application.
  • Jun 2017 — Jun 2019
    Key Quality Engineer
Unified Endpoint Management Suite client under NDA
The platform. Enterprise endpoint management, IoT and cybersecurity suite for a mobile-security vendor — device provisioning, policy enforcement and secure application distribution for regulated enterprise fleets.
My part. Created and maintained epic-level test plans and test strategy for assigned functionality, provided estimates across sprints and release cycles, and controlled traceability between requirements, test cases and defects — running functional and change-related testing across 5 desktop and mobile operating systems.
  • Oct 2016 — May 2017
    Quality Engineer
Ticketing Platform Modernisation client under NDA
The platform. Legacy ticketing web application migrated to responsive design for a global live-events and venue ticketing provider — the tooling box offices and promoters use to manage inventory, pricing and sales.
My part. Performed functional, non-functional and change-related testing inside a 30-person delivery team, and validated cross-browser and cross-device behaviour throughout the migration.

What I do with the rest of my time

Two Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 cars running nose to tail on track
24years supporting Scuderia Ferrari
Since 2002
Forza Ferrari
24 seasons of the same team — through the dominant years, the lean ones, and every strategy call that should have gone the other way. Formula 1 is where I learned that consistency, race pace and a good pit wall beat a single fast lap.

Giving back

I interview QA and engineering candidates, chair technical assessment committees for Testing Level 3 and Engineering Management, and advise AI Champion candidates across EPAM accounts.

I speak at community events — “AI-Powered Localization Testing with CodeMie” and “Start Exploring Your App Today”. I mentor engineers through certification tracks, ran the Cloud Agentic Explorers track at the EPAM UA AI Marathon 2025, and I donate blood often enough to have been named a True Lifesaver by the EPAM Donor Community.

I stand with Ukraine

I live and work in Kyiv. Ukraine is defending itself, and the people doing that defending need equipment far more than they need words. If this page was any use to you, please consider sending something to them instead.
